STORAGE DETAILS
Plan what goes inside
The cabinet layout should give everyday items a place and leave enough clear worktop for cooking.
- Pocket-door cupboards
- Doors retract to the sides while the cupboard is in use. Plan the internal shelves, worktop, sockets and appliance clearances together.
- Open and glazed storage
- Use shelves for frequently used items, with glazed cupboards for crockery and glassware.
- Drawers and pantry units
- Choose storage around pans, food and small appliances. Check drawer access and door openings against the room layout.
- Lighting and services
- Agree lighting, socket positions and access for plumbing and appliances before the kitchen is ordered.
